The J. Paul Getty Museum seeks to delight, inspire, and educate the public by acquiring, conserving, studying, exhibiting, and interpreting works of art of the highest quality within its fields of collecting. Located in the heart of Westwood Village, UCLA at the Armand Hammer Museum of Art and Cultural Center serves as a meeting place and a showcase for the arts. The Museum presents a diverse schedule of historical and contemporary art exhibitions organized by UCLA or other major national institutions, as well as selections from the permanent collection, music, dance, poetry, gallery talks, symposia and docent tours for people of all ages. In 1987, the Museum began a comprehensive, long-range planning effort that included a reassessment of its role and its methods. The final plan called for the transformation of the complex into a state-of-the-art science education facility, designed to respond to the needs of diverse communities and a state that continues to grow and evolve. The Museum of Television & Radio is a nonprofit organization founded by William S. Paley in 1975 to collect and preserve television and radio programs and to make these programs available to the public. Since opening its doors in 1976, the Museum has expanded the collection to include more than 100,000 programs chosen for their artistic, cultural, and historical significance.
